POD + Middle Makerz

Middle Makerz Art Studio is a free community oriented visual arts after-school program for Middle School students in grades 6 - 8 held weekly with our community partners.

The Middle Makerz curriculum is grounded in quality material exploration, sensory and kinesthetic investigations, skill-building, collaboration, and culturally responsive teaching for all. We believe that every child, regardless of income or financial ability, should have access to high quality and joyful visual arts experiences.

Our Community Partner for Fall 2025 is Mount Pleasant Community Library.

Middle Makerz and our community

  • After School Programming

At Middle Makerz, students in grades 6-8 engage in art making through material exploration. Past projects have included sewing, weaving, manga drawing, zine making, printmaking, stop motion animation, and much more will be explored!

Stay tuned for our Fall 2025 workshops!

  • Past programming

Though offerings change with the rotation of our teachers and community collaborators, Middle Makerz meets every student where they are at so they can learn new skills and make something memorable.

  • Our instructors

Middle Makerz art and design workshops are taught in collaboration with RISD’s Department of Teaching + Learning in Art + Design. TLAD Faculty and student teaching artists in the Master of Arts in Art and Design Education create customized workshops each Fall and Spring, so there is always something different to explore.
